Dr Franck Natali—a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, and lead scientist in the University’s Advanced Materials Lab—spends two days a week in the Wellington UniVenture’s office as the company’s first Innovator-in-Residence.
In this role, he is responsible for developing the intellectual property (IP) that the Advanced Materials group has created over recent years.
Born in France, Franck completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Nice before moving to New Zealand to work as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Canterbury. Prior to joining Victoria University of Wellington in 2009, he worked as a research and development engineer for French company Riber, who provide innovative solutions for the semiconductor industry.
Franck is also a principal investigator for—and former Deputy Director Stakeholder Engagement of—The MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology.
In his spare time, the father of two enjoys getting out on the slopes or into the surf.
