Julie is responsible for helping the Wellington UniVentures' team negotiate relationships, contracts, licences and spinouts. 

Julie has been working with Wellington UniVentures since 2009 and enjoys the variety of innovations, researchers and fascinating people that she meets in this work. A qualified patent attorney, Julie was initially the company's IP manager, managing the patent portfolio. In 2018, she moved into a new role to help the team with commercial deal negotiations and to manage existing licences and spinouts.

In addition to her Honours degree in Electronics, Julie is a registered trans-Tasman patent attorney and Fellow of the NZ Institute of Patent Attorneys. She also recently completed a Masters in Commercial Law at Melbourne Law School.

Julie has also served as an IP strategy consultant to other start-ups in the Wellington region and is always interested in the variety and breadth of innovation in her home town.
