As the Head of Commercialisation, Julie is an integral part of the leadership team responsible for leading the commercialisation activities across Wellington UniVentures.
Julie has been an invaluable member of the Wellington UniVentures team for 14 years, first joining as IP Manager in 2009. Julie has a wealth of experience supporting New Zealand’s research and innovation ecosystem. She began her own IP strategy consultancy business in 2011, continuing to support us as well as other heavyweights in New Zealand’s start-up economy, including Xero, Magritek and CreativeHQ.
Julie re-joined Wellington UniVentures in a full-time capacity in 2020 as a senior member of our Commercialisation team, supporting our Commercialisation Managers through the licensing and negotiation process, as well as managing relationships with our spin-out companies.
In addition to her Honours degree in Electronics, Julie is a registered trans-Tasman patent attorney and Fellow of the NZ Institute of Patent Attorneys. She also holds a Masters in Commercial Law at Melbourne Law School.
